Sport lifestyle company PUMA is taking on the challenge of launching an entire line that is either biodegradable or recyclable and Cradle to Cradle Certified(CM) Basic. The collection includes biodegradable products as the lifestyle sneaker Basket and a T-shirt, and recyclable products as the PUMA Track Jacket and a backpack.

The PUMA Track Jacket is made of 98% recycled polyester derived from recycled PET bottles and for easy recycling the zipper has too been made of recycled polyester. The jacket can be returned by the consumer and will be taken back by PUMAs “BRING ME BACK” program and after that recycled into polyester again. The backpack is made of polypropylene and after collection it will be returned to the original manufacturer in China for recycling and reuse.

All products of the InCycle collection will be equipped with the “BRING ME BACK” label, to ensure the quality of the materials to be recycled and not to mix it up with other products. The concept of this collection truly follows the Cradle to Cradle® paradigm by designing products either for the biological metabolism or the technical metabolism and thereby eliminating the concept of products becoming “waste”, but instead becoming “nutrients” for either of the metabolisms and being beneficial for the people and the planet.
