Many research institutes have been opened due to the government’s promotion of the Cradle to Cradle concept. The following are examples:
The Dutch Polymer Institute was established in 1997 through public and private collaboration. Its purpose is to fulfill the needs of knowledge exploration and technology innovation, and it has focused on polymer and Cradle to Cradle related material research since 2007.
Material ConneXion was established in January 2008 as the world’s first material information center. It provides and promotes all kinds of innovative materials. Material production companies register their innovative materials on Material ConneXion, and potential customers can enquire about materials which they are interested in. In the same year, Material ConneXion, MBDC and EPEA collectively set up a Cradle to Cradle material database for use in conferences, material evaluation, certification, and product development. Material ConneXion connects material suppliers, professional consultants and customers for innovative material development and application.
